Acutec and Alliance Make Deal

Sites/Facilities

This week, an agreement that will likely provide great benefit to the community was finalized between Acutec Precision Manufacturing and the Economic Progress Alliance.

Acutec and the Alliance have entered into a ten year lease agreement to expand Acutec’s presence at the Crawford Business Park from 30,000 to 80,000 square feet. For our part, we have agreed to substantially upgrade the existing facility to provide for about 60,000 s.f. of climate controlled, flexible manufacturing space; office space and associated facilities such as shipping and receiving. With a plan to absorb the new production space over time, Acutec hopes to more than double its 230 employees in the coming years. As a major supplier to the aerospace industry, producing more than 2,000 various parts for the world’s largest aerospace companies, Acutec’s prospects for future growth are very strong.

The Economic Progress Alliance plans to invest about $2.5 million to make major improvements at the Crawford Business Park this year. About $1.5 million will be invested to convert the former Andover Industries painting facility into a high quality flexible manufacturing environment for occupancy by Acutec. Upon completion of this project, occupancy at the Crawford Business Park will near 100%.

While we will miss our regular contact with Andy in the practice of economic development, we are most pleased that he will remain in Meadville and that the community will continue to benefit by his professionalism and hard work on our behalf.

County Plastics Companies Ranked

A report recently released by Plastics News, an international information source for the plastics industry, ranked 620 injection mold North American companies based on sales of products in the most recent year of publication. Included in this list are three Crawford County companies, all ranked above 56% of those companies listed: C&J Industries, Multi-Plastics and Tech Molded Plastics.

C&J Industries in Meadville is a total plastics contract manufacturer and product design company specializing in manufacturing complex, high-precision injection molded components and assemblies to complete turnkey medical devices and components.
